Parentline: Support and advice for all Queensland parents and carers
Being a parent can be rewarding—but it can also be challenging. Whether you’re trying to support your child with school issues, friendship challenges, behaviour, or tough moments at home, it’s completely normal to feel unsure about what to do next.
Parentline is a free and confidential service available to all Queensland parents and carers. No problem is too big or too small—and reaching out early can make a real difference.
Parentline offers advice and support on a wide range of parenting topics, including:
bullying and friendship issues
parent–child relationships
parenting strategies and behaviour management
mental and emotional wellbeing—for both children and parents
You can speak with a trained professional by phone or webchat (6am-midnight), seven days a week.
An online bullying support forum is also available. This is a safe, moderated space to connect with others, ask questions, and share experiences.

Because parenting doesn’t come with a manual—but help is here when you need it.

Brisbane South Youth Parliament Day

On Friday 8th August selected debating students proudly participated in the Brisbane South Youth Parliament Day. Students had a hands-on parliamentary experience where they learnt about how Queensland Parliament works.
Students experienced and enacted roles such as debating a motion, speaking in an adjournment debate or providing a private members' statement about any issue falling within the jurisdiction of the Queensland Parliament. Some students were also allocated a non-speaking or scripted role.
Students have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks to write and practice their speeches, which they delivered with excellence and pride today. We were lucky to spot a past Hilliard student, and hopefully we will spot more in Parliament in the future!
Thank you to Mrs Lowry for supporting our students prior to & during this valuable day!
Hilliard Sport!
Last week, Hilliard State School proudly sent 24 students to compete at the Bayside Track and Field Carnival at Sheldon College. Over two fantastic days, our athletes achieved incredible personal bests, displayed outstanding sportsmanship, and represented Hilliard with pride.
We are thrilled to announce that five students have qualified for the next level of competition in two weeks’ time.
Congratulations to Olivia for the 100m and 200m sprints, George for Shot Put, Nickolas and Archer for qualifying in the Tetrathlon, and Charlee for Tetrathlon and High Jump.
We wish all our competitors the very best of luck at the Regional Championships at QSAC – go Hilliard!
