From the Principal
Week 11 (9 - 13th Dec)
This year, Term 4, will consist of 11 weeks rather than the usual 10 weeks. The Department of Education has advised that we are able to make localised decisions in response to the 11 week term. During week 11 (9 - 13th Dec), our school has chosen to offer an alternate program which will vary across the year levels. This means that our regular timetables of instruction will not be undertaken. At Hilliard, we will progressively release teachers to undertake important planning for the implementation of version 9 of the Australian Curriculum whilst students participate in alternate learning opportunities.
We strongly believe that 'Every Day Counts' at Hilliard SS and look forward to planning some interesting alternate activities for the week.
Our normal attendance process will still be in place, including text message alerts, during week 11. If you know that your child will be absent during this week, please let us know in advance through the absence phone number, SeeSaw, email (admin@) or QParents. This information will assist us with planning.

Kindness Day!!!
From the P&C
Yura families
Firstly, a big thank you to those who helped out at the Election BBQ, whether it was helping on the day or by donating plants, baked items, sausages etc. We raised just over $1,500 which is awesome!
Movie Night. Our movie night is in a week’s time – how exciting!! Have you purchased your tickets? Tickets are now available on QKR until Thursday 14th November, otherwise you can purchase them at the gate on the day.
The movie night is promising to be bigger and better than last year with more food options and more entertainment for everyone before the movie begins. A Frequently Asked Questions sheet is attached with all the information you need for the event:
Can you spare just 1 hour of your time please? At this stage we may not be able to go ahead with the event if we cannot get some more volunteers. Shifts have been split into 1 hour so you can still have fun with your families as well as helping to ensure that this event runs smoothly and is a success. If you are able to help, please register your name at https://volunteersignup.org/YHYBA.
Uniform Update. Have you heard a rumour that we are changing the school uniform? Well, that’s not entirely true and we want to let everyone know what is really happening!
Apart from the new sports logos, the P&C have been looking into changing our uniform supplier to see if we can purchase them at a cheaper price to make it more affordable for our families. We had also received feedback from some parents that it would be good if the uniform bottoms, the skorts and shorts, were a darker colour. So in our discussions with the suppliers, we have been looking at the different colours available. The other change is to the stripe on the school polo, but this is only a minor change to remove the light grey stripe.
We want to stress though that NO decisions have been made at this stage and there is a long process involved before making any changes. On top of the lengthy approval process there would be a rollout period of 2 years, where the students would still be able to wear the existing uniform before the new uniform became mandatory.
So, it is perfectly okay for families to purchase the existing uniforms and not worry about them changing anytime soon. The uniform shop is fully stocked as we have already received our end of year/new year orders so please either pop into see Chloe or order through QKR.
Our next P&C General meeting will be held on Monday, 2 December in our very own P&C/Conference room which is located under the hall. Our traditional ‘Thank You’ party for anyone who has helped this year will be start at 6pm before a quick end of year meeting. If you have helped in any way this year, either in person or by donating to one of our events, we would love to have you join us for some drinks and nibbles.
If you have any questions about the upcoming movie night or anything P&C related, please do not hesitate to email me at hilliardpandcpresident@gmail.com
Thanks so much
