Camps 2025 - From Mrs Cutajar
The Senior Leadership Team in consultation with the P and C have reviewed camps for the senior school in 2025. A survey was sent to upper school parents to reflect on the possibility of having a Sydney/Canberra Camp from 2025 for our Year 6 students. Thanks to all of the parents who contributed towards this feedback. It has been decided due to the late notice relating to booking accomodation in Canberra and the cost of camp this camp will not occur in 2025.In 2025 to following will occur for camps for Years 4 to 6:Yr 4 Camp Kindilan - 9th October to 10th October 2025Yr 5 Camp Tallebudgera - 15th September 2025 to 17th September 2025Yr 6 Camp Noosa North Shore - 17th September 2025 to 19th September 2025

Mrs Baker, Mrs Witham and Ms Courtney breaking ground on our new playground project!
A huge shout out to our amazing P&C and school community for raising money for this project! It was a mammoth task, but we achieved our goal! Thank you for your hard work and dedication, we cannot wait to see the finished project!
Changes to Excursion, Camp and Activities Process
Our process regarding consent and payment for camps, excursions and activities has changed!
- Notes and permission forms will be distributed digitally (using QParents or schoolzine)
- Permissions received by the due date will be invoiced for payment
- Payment / cut off dates will be strictly enforced
We ask for your patience as we navigate these new processes!
Planning for 2025
As we near the end of the year, we are busy planning for 2025! Our Prep transition program is well underway, our year 6 students are starting their transitions to High School. To assist us with classes for next year we would appreciate it if you could please notify the office if your child is not returning to Hilliard SS next year.

Breakfast Club
Our breakfast club will continue to run 3 mornings per week in Term 4. We are after donations of Milo and breakfast spreads (Jam, vegemite etc). Thank you for your support!
Sport News
Unfortunately, we have had to change the date of our year 3-6 swimming carnival. It will now be held on FRIDAY 8TH NOVEMBER. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause!!!
Hilliard Dance
All athletes in Year 2 to 5 are invited to participate in the choreography and skills workshop sessions for Aerobics and Cheer being offered from week 3 to week 6, Tuesday afternoons this term. These sessions are not compulsory. They will include choreography and skills to improve transitions and execution. Students are welcome to take this opportunity as it will also assist us with Hilliard team selections for Year 2 to 5 students in 2025. We will be holding trials in weeks 7-9.

From the P&C
Yura families,
Welcome back to Term 4!! I hope everyone had a great time over the holidays. This term is going to be super busy with a number of events happening so we would really appreciate any help we can get with the following events:
Gold4Good. Every student will receive the school fundraiser donation envelopes from their teacher next week. A letter is attached to the envelope with instructions on what can be donated as well as where to send your donations. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.
State Election. Are you a whizz on the BBQ or in the Kitchen, have a green thumb, excellent customer service skills or just want to help where you can? The Hilliard State School P&C are holding a BBQ, Plant and Bake Sale at the upcoming State Election. Saturday 26th October 2024. Everyone Welcome! Volunteers on the day will receive a cold drink and sausage sizzle/bacon and egg muffin (I could even be persuaded to have some nice icy cold beers available for any dads willing to help cook the BBQ!). Not free on the day but would still like to help? We are also looking for donations of BBQ supplies, plants and sweet treats - to keep costs down and increase profits!

Movie Night. Great news, we have selected Inside Out 2 to be the movie of the night!! The movie night is promising to be bigger and better than last year with more food options and more entertainment for everyone before the movie begins.
To make this event a success we would really appreciate all the help we can get from our school community. A register will be set up shortly for you to be able to register your interests so keep any eye out for this. Volunteers on the day will receive a cold drink and sausage sizzle.
Christmas Stall. We had our first special interest class last week and we have 42 students who have put their hand up to help run the Christmas stall this year!!! This is a great opportunity for the students to not only be creative with making items to sell at the stall but to also learn about customer service, stock taking, creating Excel spreadsheets to record the cost and sale price of items, marketing etc.
Our next P&C General meeting will be held on Monday, 14 October at 6.30pm in the school staffroom (Admin building). Not only will we be discussing the above events we will be starting to plan our events and activities for next year (i.e. a colour fun run). And for those of you who might be worried about joining the P&C committee, please don’t. There is absolutely no obligation for you to join the committee by attending a meeting. We would love to see some new faces if you are available and interested to hear what is happening at school this term or have ideas about what you would like to see happen next year.
