Reboot - Quadrants of Engagement
Quadrants of Engagement
Our classes continue to work well on understanding and using the 4 Quadrants of Engagement to help build student self-awareness and their ability to manage the discomfort of learning challenges. The Quadrants are used as an engagement check-in tool at any point in a lesson or at the end as a debrief/summary. This helps enhance student self-awareness as learners. The Quadrants of Engagement represent the 4 mental and emotional states students may find themselves in during the process of learning. This is the same for adults as well. Sometimes students may start in Survival Zone, while others will automatically be in Learning Zone. It is normal to move around the Zones depending on what students are learning and what else is happening their life. Being aware of which Zones students are in for different areas empowers students to take the steps needed to successfully step up into the Learning and Mastery Zones.
We encourage our Hilliard community to ask their children about the Quadrants of Engagement and continue to make reference to and use the language while engaging in everyday tasks outside of school. Attached is a copy of the posters and language used at school when working with the Quadrants.

Facilities Update
Works on our "Beautification Project" have been underway for the last couple of months. This week Mr Cookie and Mr Sam have been bringing our old long jump pit back to life. These pictures show the progress of their labours! Thank you very much! We can't wait to share a photo of the finished project!

Cookie and Sam have removed the paving, benches and excess bushes/groundcover, replacing them with a boxed garden bed, mulch and turf. We think it looks a lot nicer!
From the Office
At Hilliard State School we are very lucky to have an amazing array of wonderful parent and community volunteers. From our P&C executive team, p&c members, scholastic book club coordinator, tuckshop volunteers, classroom helpers and everyone who helps out with P&C events such as Bunnings BBQ's, Mothers' and Fathers' Day stalls, to name a few!
This week is Volunteer Week and today is P&C Day, so THANK YOU for all that you do!
Student Council Free Dress Day!
On Wednesday 5th June the Student Council are holding a free dress day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their team colours and donate a non-perishable food item. All items received will be donated to Foodbank Australia.

Just a quick reminder about the QParents App! We are currently sitting at 78% participation, which is good. We would love to see this increase to 100%, that would be GREAT!

Uniform Shop
OPENING HOURS - THURSDAY 8:00 - 9:30AM
The Uniform Shop is available for ordering through QKR! Just log on and select Uniform Shop. Whilst you can place your Uniform Orders any time of day, any day of the week, currently deliveries to students classrooms will only take place each Thursday.
If an item is showing as “Unavailable” this means it is currently OUT OF STOCK.
We are expecting deliveries of uniforms in the next few weeks. Stock will be added to QKR once they arrive and are available to purchase.
SECOND HAND UNIFORMS
Search and join the FACEBOOK group: “Hilliard SS 2nd Hand Uniform Sale” where you will be able to interact with parents of all grades selling and looking for second hand uniforms.
Please note that whilst we do our best to have all stock on hand at all times, sometimes due to circumstances beyond our control, some items/sizes may be unavailable. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
