Issue 18, 10th November 2023
From the Principal
A big thank you to our wonderful grandparents who were able to celebrate with us today. It was so great to see so many people with their cars decorated. The smiles in the cars driving by were as big as those on the faces of our students and staff, way to go Hilliard!
Have a happy and safe weekend,
Leanne Witham

Semester 2 Report Cards
At the end of this term, Hilliard will be sending out Semester 2 Report Cards, to provide detailed information for parents about their child/ren’s academic achievements, efforts and behaviour. Achievement levels for subjects are based on student performance on summative assessment tasks, which are designed to give students multiple opportunities to demonstrate their learning and provide a means for teachers to make judgements about student work samples, as compared to the Australian Curriculum Year Level Achievement Standards.
The P-12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework (P-12 CARF) prescribes the subjects that are taught and assessed in each year level or bands of year levels in Queensland state schools. This is aligned to the Australian Curriculum provisions for individual year levels, or curriculum areas which span across multiple year level 'bands'. This has undergone changes and updates over the last couple of years, so the subjects that are assessed and reported on at Hilliard has been different this year, compared to previous years. Not all subjects that students are taught are reported on.
In Semester 2, report cards will cover the following subjects, aligned to our Whole School Curriculum Plan, which is based on the Australian Curriculum and the latest version of the P-12 CARF:
YEAR LEVEL | SUBJECTS INCLUDED IN SEMESTER 2 REPORT CARDS |
Prep | English, Maths, Science, Humanities & Social Sciences (HASS), Health & Physical Education (HPE) |
1 | English, Maths, Science, Humanities & Social Sciences (HASS), Health & Physical Education (HPE) |
2 | English, Maths, Science, Humanities & Social Sciences (HASS), Health & Physical Education (HPE), Technologies, The Arts |

6 | English, Maths, Science, Humanities & Social Sciences (HASS), Health & Physical Education (HPE), Technologies, The Arts, Languages (Japanese) |
Semester 2 Report Cards will be emailed out to parents on Thursday 7th December. Parents, please ensure your contact details are up-to-date at the school office, including a working email address that accepts .pdf attachments, to make sure you receive your child/ren’s report card.
