I am going to start inviting the school leaders to be a part of developing our Weekly Update. So, please enjoy the new format.

KINDNESS CLUB!
One of our new Lunchtime Clubs this term is "Kindness Club", which is run by Mrs Haratsis on Wednesdays. Each week, students take part in a variety of fun activities designed to inspire students to show kindness towards themselves, each other, and the environment. To date, we have been busy decorating posters and uplifting affirmations, to place around the school and serve as a reminder of the importance of showing kindness towards themselves and others. We have also created and delivered thankyou cards to our wonderfully dedicated teacher aides, to show our appreciation of the contribution they make to our school, staff and students.
PREP 2024 TRANSITIONS
This term we are holding a number of events to welcome our 2024 Prep enrolments and their families to Hilliard State School. These include Come & Play afternoons on Thursdays, Playgroup on Friday mornings, and then our Prep 2024 Orientation Day on 30 November. If you see any of our new Prep 2024 families whilst they are visiting our school, please show them how great our school community is and make them feel welcome.
To help students and families have a great start to schooling, we have included a section on our school website with resources to support children, parents, early education and care providers and community organisations. The video "A day in the life of Prep at Hilliard" showcases some of current Prep students and teachers - make sure you check it out!
Hilliard State School Uniform Standards
At the last P&C meeting a motion was moved to streamline the school uniform by the following:
- Black shoes only
- White ankle-high socks only
Expectation of the Week
Each week our "Positive Engagement for Learning" (PEL) Team create an Expectation of the Week (EOTW) for our students. Next week our students' will be learning the school's expectation of Respecting School Equipment.
Recently the P&C donated an assortment of sporting equipment, costumes and play items for our students to use during break times! Thank you P&C :)
The following week (week 6) is focusing on Before School Procedures.

Salvation Army Christmas Appeal!
This term we are collecting donations for the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. Please bring any donations of non-perishable food items, gifts etc... to the office!
We will arrange a pick up in the last week of term!

Today students were invited to wear red in acknowledgment of Day for Daniel. Today we raised $381.35 to go to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation! Well done Hilliard SS!

CHRISTMAS MOVIE NIGHT NEWS!
We are excited to keep you up to date with our plans! Over the last couple of months, we have been full steam ahead planning the perfect afternoon/night for our community and we have so many exciting things to share with you! Don't forget, every cent we make from our Movie Night will be going towards the upgrade of play equipment. Without the help of our Hilliard families and our community, this event wouldn't be possible.
There will be many activities to keep the kids entertained prior to the movie starting including a disco, animal farm, face painting etc. We have also organised a number of food trucks to provide some yummy food while you watch the movie.
MARKET STALLHOLDERS
We are currently seeking interest from market stallholders to participate in our Twilight Markets. If you are interested, or you know someone who might be interested, please contact Courtney Johnson at hilliardtuckshop@gmail.com for an application form.
CLASSROOM DONATIONS
We will be running a Lob-A-Choc game at the Movie Night and are hoping you can help us out by donating Chocolates and packaged Lollies (of any size or kind). Each classroom has been given a washing basket to collect Movie Night donations. We will be gathering donations across the school in the weeks leading up to the event. Any donation big or small would be greatly appreciated.
VOLUNTEERS
As the saying goes ‘many hands make light work’! There are a number of different roles we need volunteers for e.g., Lob-A-Choc, selling Glow items, selling drinks from the Canteen, setting up Saturday morning. However, we also know the importance of being able to share in the fun of this event with your family. This is why we will have an online roster of different shift times for different jobs which allows you to volunteer and help out for as little or as long as you choose in a role of your choosing. Keep any eye out for our post coming shortly with the link to the online roster to select which spot suits you. We really appreciate any help you can offer.
