PREP 2024 ENROLMENTS
We are very excited to be meeting some new faces and families this term, as we start enrolments for Prep 2024. Enrolments Packs are available from the front office. Parents who would like to know more about what Prep @ Hilliard SS offers them and their child, are invited to join us for a Prep 2024 Principal Tour and Information Session. Details on the flyer below.
Please share this information with any families in our local community who you know are looking at Prep enrolments for next year. There are no catchment rules for prep enrolments, so all applications will be accepted.
FREE, ONLINE PARENTING RESOURCES FOR ANXIETY
Support your child’s coping skills (and improve yours, too!)
The Fear-Less Triple P Program is part of the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program. Fear-Less isn’t about eliminating fear altogether – sometimes, fear protects us. Instead, it’s about giving your family a toolbox of strategies, skills, and knowledge to manage anxious feelings and stop unnecessary worrying. Fear-Less Triple P is based on extensive research with families of anxious children by clinical psychologists. It can work for you too – and now it’s online!
Why Fear-Less Triple P Online makes all the difference

- Get a better understanding of anxiety and fear and what can be done about it
- Know what to do when your child is anxious or upset
- A whole range of tools and strategies based on proven principles
- Australian program, university-developed by child psychologists
- You choose what works for you – adapt to suit your family, your values
- Videos and fun interactive learning on your phone, tablet or computer
- 24/7 online, at your place, at your pace
CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK 2023
Start getting costumes ready for Book Week 2023! We will be holding our annual Book Week parade on the morning of Thursday 24th August. All students are invited to come dressed as a book character, and parents are invited to come along to share in the fun! More information will be sent out to parents closer to the event.
NCCD - Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability - census date is in August each year. All schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Please see the fact sheet attached for more information. The Inclusion Team at Hilliard State School are always happy to discuss this with you further.

My New Gallery
From the P&C
Dear Parents/caregivers,
It’s time to spoil the wonderful men in our Hilliard Community at the 2023 Hilliard Father’s Day Stall. We recognise how important the stall is to many of our children and families and we look forward to bringing a great variety of gifts at fantastic low prices.
The stall will be held over TWO days with each class being allocated 15 minutes to select their perfect gift:
Wednesday 30stand Thursday 31st August 2023
Your child/s teacher will allocate their own timeslot to work around individual class schedules. Teachers will communicate to you directly the date your child will be attending. Please keep an eye out on Facebook as we will also post the classes attending which day on there.
Gifts will range in price from $1.00 to $6.00 – please see the attached brochure for the amazing gifts on offer this year. Raffle tickets will be available for 50cents each for one of the awesome hampers we have up for grabs. The raffle draw will be drawn during last session on Thursday 1st September.
Please remember to send:
- Notes/coins in a sealed clear plastic bag / container with your child’s name and amount printed clearly, so that, if necessary, we can help the children select the correct number of items.
- A reusable bag with your child/ren for carrying gifts home.
Donations for Raffles
If you would like to donate some items to contribute towards our Father’s Raffles hampers, please drop these to the Tuckerbox before Friday 25th August 2023. Some examples of items include car wash items, movie tickets, coffee sachets, chocolates, stationary etc.
Our wonderful helpers assist children to pick their perfect present, restock the tables, write raffle tickets and be the cashier. It is a great way to get involved, have a social chat and meet some other wonderful parents. The children love seeing someone they know behind the stall. If you are available to volunteer for the stall even for a part day, we would love your help - please contact hilliardpandcfundraising@gmail.com with the days and times you can help!
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Hilliard Primary P&C Association.

Tuckerbox Volunteer Call-out
We’re looking for helpers in the Tuckerbox, so, if you are wondering how to fill some time before school drop off or pick up, we’d love to see you (and kids LOVE seeing you there) 😊.
Bring a friend and chat while you help, even if it’s just a spare half hour, or hour, here and there in the morning, or at the end of the school day, the Tuckerbox would be glad to have your support.
And don’t worry, no special skills are required; just your hands willing to help.
Even older high school students with an interest in hospitality can come in and get some hands-on experience with food prep, and food safety.
We’re just across from the main office, but if you’re not sure where to go, the friendly team in the office will point you in our direction.
If you have any questions about the Tuckshop, or volunteering, please email hilliardtuckshop@gmail.com.
Love and Smiles,
The Tuckerbox
Containers For Change
Our P&C Coordinates a Containers for Change Queensland recycling scheme to raise additional funds for our school community.
There are orange bins placed around the school to collect any containers students might have at break times, or alternatively you can donate containers
directly at any depot and use: Hilliard State School Scheme Id #C10161576
This can be used across Queensland, so any family members further afield can contribute too. For more information on what containers are eligible, see www.containersforchange.com.au.
IMPORTANT P&C DATES
We thought we would provide parents with a rough idea of some important P&C dates for 2023. Of course, these are subject to change, and we will let you know as soon as we can of any changes. Keep an eye on the school’s Facebook page and/or the appropriate year level Facebook pages.
