Issue 6, 6th May 2022
From the Principal
Yura families and carers
Welcome to the end of week 3.
COVID Update: You will have seen on our Facebook site and the email home that there have been changes to the 'close contact' rules. Please ensure you are familiar with these so that we are all following the Qld Government rules.
We have had 20 people test positive in our school this week and 10 last week. Please be mindful that if your child is unwell please keep them at home. We had a large number of students report to the sick bay unwell over the last couple of days and need your support in keeping everyone healthy. Our administration officers are required to call you and report the illnesses. If you have any concerns with the phone calls please contact me to discuss. I know you would all agree that they do an amazing job....as do all of our staff.
DISCO: We are finally allowed to hold a school disco! Yeah! We are looking forward to having the community support this fundraiser so that we can invest in play equipment and structures for all of our students. The P&C is committed to spending funds this year on improvements around the school and we need your support to make this happen. If you are able to help out on the night please sign up to the volunteer register. I know any help you offer will be appreciated. If you can't volunteer, please support us by buying a ticket for your child/ren. We hope that you are already noticing all the improvements that are happening around the school.
P&C Meeting: We look forward to welcoming new members to the P&C meeting on Monday night. This is the perfect chance to be a part of a dynamic team working hard to support the school. Everyone is welcome so don't be shy, come and join us.
Looking forward to seeing you all dancing next Friday night,
Leanne Witham

Term 2 Event Calendar
From Your Friendly Office Staff
Welcome back from yet another long weekend, the last for this term! It will be great to get back into the swing of "normal" weeks!
Our school photos will be taken on Wednesday 18th May. We are still waiting on the materials from the photographers, so as soon as they arrive they will be sent home with students.
Invoices for Recreational Hip Hop have been emailed home, these lessons will commence next Monday.
Statements have been emailed home. If you have not received a statement please check your "junk" or "spam" folders. If you still have not received a statement, don't worry! It probably means your account is up-to-date!
If you have a credit balance (a minus) - please do not pay this! This is money that is sitting in your account that can be applied to future invoices.
If you have any queries or questions please do not hesitate to contact the office - 3820 1666 or email - admin@hilliardss.eq.edu.au
Have a great weekend, and Happy Mother's Day to all the mums!

An evening like this can’t be successful without the help of our school community, we welcome anyone who wishes to volunteer to do so on our sign up page.
Please note that volunteers are required to be double vaccinated, and this will be checked at the beginning of your shift.
Keep your eye on Facebook for more updates and details about the disco to come in the following days!
P&C have entered Hilliards in the Wonder Recycling Rewards campaign this term!
Please help us collect bread bags (any brand) and send them to school so we can earn points to redeem on RHSports equipment and be in the running to win an exercise circuit made from recycled soft plastic.
The more we collect, the more points our school earns!
Containers For Change
Our P&C Coordinates a Containers for Change Queensland Recycling Scheme to raise additional funds for our school community.
There are orange bins placed around the school to collect any containers students might have at break times, or alternatively you can donate containers directly at any depot and use the following code:
Hilliard State School Scheme Id #C10161576
This can be used across Queensland, so any family members further afield can contribute too. For more information on what containers are eligible, see www.containersforchange.com.au
The Hilliard Tucker Patch is thriving in this beautiful weather! The tomato’s, corn, broccoli, snow peas, watermelon, lettuce, and cucumbers all looking very happy.
