Students in the Classroom
What an informative morning! Some of our cherished, former Hilliard students came along and gave invaluable advice and strategies to our current Year 6 cohort, who are transitioning to high school in less than two weeks. During the discussion you could see many of the worries the Year 6 students had, were alleviated. To show our appreciation we gave them a vote of thanks and a certificate. Thank you to our wonderful group of former students who without hesitation, happily gave of their precious time to guide our current Year 6 students on their journey to high school. Tanya and Charlee
Some of our year 6 students have been busy helping out in the Prep area - cleaning toys for the end of the year. Well done year 6's!
From the P&C
Yura families,
Woohoo! We have made it to the end of the year, and what a crazy, busy, year it has been! Thank you to everyone for all of your support throughout the year and more recently with the Christmas Stall and Raffle. We were able to raise $2,899.93!! As the stall was so successful with the students from years 3 to 6 being involved in running the stall, we will continue this special interest group next year for the Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Christmas stalls.
We are looking at rescheduling our Movie Night for Saturday, 29th March 2024 and are in the process of checking that our food trucks, animal farm, movie people etc. are available that day as well as the Easter Bunny! So, keep your eye on Facebook, SeeSaw and the newsletter for updates.
For anyone looking to purchase uniforms for next year, we will be open on Thursday, 23rd and Friday, 24th January for you to pop in to grab what you need. You can also preorder on QKR, and we will have these ready for you to do a quick pick up on those days.
I would like to say a big congratulations to our Year 6 students. It was a pleasure being at the graduation ceremony to present each student with their graduation gift on behalf of the P&C committee. We hope that you will treasure your gifts and wish you all the very best for the future.
We have started looking at next year and what events we will be holding (see attached draft calendar). We have also started discussing what we would like to use our fundraising funds for next year (i.e. bleachers/benches on the oval for parents to sit on at sporting events, football goals for the oval).
At this stage we will only be organising the Movie Night and the three stalls next year, as we unfortunately do not have enough committee members. So, if you would like to see your children participate in events such as a colour fun run or disco etc., we would love for you to contact us or pop along to our first P&C meeting on Monday, 10th February 2025. You do not necessarily have to join the P&C if you only want to be involved in organising that one activity. Alternatively, if you have any ideas or suggestions on what you would like to see improved at the school which we could fundraise for, we would love to hear from you.
On that note, I would like to wish all of our Hilliard families and staff a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I look forward to seeing you all in 2025!!
Thanks so much

School Watch
The School Watch program encourages everyone to look out for and report any after-hours crime in our schools.
Empty schools can become targets for unlawful entry, arson, stealing, graffiti and property damage, especially during school holiday periods. This comes at a cost to the whole community and not just the financial cost of repairs.
The School Watch program is a partnership between the Department of Education and Protective Services Group, Queensland Police Service, providing a way for members of the community to report anything they see that is suspicious, even if it seems minor.
On average, more than 700 calls are made to School Watch every year, helping to keep our schools safe.
Look, Listen, Report. Call School Watch on 13 17 88.
If you see a crime in progress, call Triple Zero (000).
